22- 2nd Friday

On September 12th, San Antonio’s 2nd Friday Art Walk, the Aesthetik will open its studio doors for a one of a kind experience of fashion, food, and art. Stacy Williams, one of New York’s fashion designers, a San Antonio native and University of the Incarnate Word graduate, curates this experience. It will feature clothing and an art exhibit.  Food will be catered by Chef Nikki Williams, a graduate of Le Ferrandi Culinary School in France.

Williams has worked with high-end labels including Anna Sui, Susana Monaco; featured in “Time Out New York,” “The Huffington Post,” and SA Express News. As an artist she has shown at PS/1 MOMA’s LIC and before relocating to San Antonio, Williams opened her own retail store in NYC’s West Village.

Her line boasts organic, natural, and eco-friendly fabrics. “Strong lines and bold detailing gives the Aesthetik a decadent feel,” says Williams, who describes her customer as “an individual with a sense of style that inspires wardrobe envy.”

The Aesthetik’s summer sample sale will include limited edition clothing, accessories, and up-cycled antique jewelry. The gallery show will feature work by Williams and local San Antonio artists. Ambience to be provided by an infamous New York City Dj and a San Antonio legend, hors d’oeuvres catered by Chef Nikki Williams - a graduate of Le Ferrandi Culinary School in France, and refreshments provided by local wineries and breweries. Come and enjoy a bit of New York City in San Antonio with unique fashion, art and atmosphere.

Summer clothing sale and art exhibit runs from 8pm to midnight on Friday, September 12th. Located at the Beacon Hill Studios, 1101 West Woodlawn, 3rd floor.

The art submitted by the artists is inspired/based on Stacey's designs. The DJs are gonna have a 7" vinyl spin off...each spinning 1 song and making it seem seamless...

A must do event next Friday!!!!

17 2 Events and 4 quotes

Should be a great exhibition, a year in the making.

Now NEXT Saturday is the Angry Oontz Oontz, and I will be selling art...                                                      BEHOLD:

Aaaand the quotes:

'Everything can be taken from us but one thing- the last of the human freedoms- to choose one's attitude in any given circumstance.'- Viktor Frankl*

'Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.'- Thomas A. Edison

'Wisdom begins in wonder.'- Socrates

'The creative artist is concerned, not with facades, but with the inner structure, with the truth of what he sees'.- Ellen Raskin

*Which was edited from this
The experiences of camp life show that a man does have a choice of action. There were enough examples, often of a heroic nature, which proved that apathy could be overcome, irritability suppressed. Man can preserve a vestige of spiritual freedom, of independence of mind, even in such terrible conditions of psychic and physical stress. We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken away from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s way. The way in which a man accepts his fate and all the suffering it entails, the way in which he takes up his cross, gives him ample opportunity—even in the most difficult circumstances—to add a deeper meaning to life.

16-... and here we are 2014

Something to think about...

You'll never look at food the same again:

and then to continue the food theme, I watched the documentary HUNGRY FOR CHANGE...wow it validated my thoughts on food. It too will make you not look at food the same again ;)

And here are the inspirational quotes I posted the last few days of 2013 and first few days of 2014:

'Don't explain why it can't be done. Discover how it can be done.' -Mo Tao

'A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity: an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.' -Winston Churchill

'Throwing away ideas too soon is like opening a package of flower seeds and then throwing them away because they're not pretty.'- Art VanGundy

'Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake.'- Sir Francis Bacon

'Structure ignites spontaneity. Limits YIELD intensity.'- Steven Nachmanovitch

'The uncreative mind can spot wrong answers, but it takes a very creative mind to spot wrong questions.' Anthony Jay

'Ideas can come from anywhere and at any time. The problem with making mental notes is that the ink fades very rapidly.'- Rolf Smith

'Confusion is the welcome mat at the door of creativity.'- Michael J Gelb
